Indoor positioning using iBeacon vs. wifi. Which one is better?

• Both require an app to be installed by the user for it to work
• Wifi positioning is readily available across all smartphones
• iBeacon is based on BLE/Bluetooth 4.0 and is only available on newer smartphones
• Wifi is relatively inexpensive, but needs investments in Wifi SW/HW (Cisco, Navizon, Meridian, KAIST, WirelessWerx, GISI Indoors, Euclid, etc) to achieve accuracy
• iBeacon requires new technology/investments and becomes complex to maintain when you scale up

Currently, the two technologies are very similar in performance, and a clear advantage isn't present as of yet.
